Born out of a desire to be of relevance to our greater society, some Upoharians came together during a social get-together in September of 2023 and conceived an association of like-minded fellow citizens who can make a difference to the have-nots by putting together their meagre savings.

Our society has a very large number of people of different age groups, belonging to diverse strata of society, suffering from shortages of essentials that can make a big change to their quality of life. The initial trials of fulfilling such needs of marginalized persons in our bigger neighborhood gave a feel-good factor that was very satisfying.

Inspired by this experience the pioneers moved forward, formed a registered association with an address at UPOHAR commercial complex, a Bank Account and a Byelaw. The initial team of nineteen families has started growing with more like-minded families joining the group and UPOHAR Welfare Forum (UWF) is today a recognized entity to the needy suffering people who have tasted the benefit humbly reached to them by UWF over the first year of existence.

Today UWF has set up their own website and is looking forward to an enlargement of membership with families imbibed with the mindset of offering service to suffering persons in the community as volunteers, to have new sponsors for philanthropic activities ready to benefit from the outreach available through the web site, and to have a new list of proactive programmes for benefiting the needy neighbours!
